Freshen Up With Scarves

Are you looking for a way to freshen up an outfit, change your look and put a little spark in your current wardrobe?  If so, try a scarf.

Scarves are one of the most undervalued accessories.  Unlike handbags and shoes that can make or break an outfit, the scarf humbly resides as a supporting character in the ensemble of a great look.  Yet, it is this humble scarf that can be the most versatile thing you own.

Nordstrom Scarves
For the fashionista in love with labels, Hermes is the scarf of choice.  A Hermes scarf is what we call an investment piece. In most cases, an investment piece does not have to be expensive.  It just has to be well made, basic enough to remain in style and of exceptional quality.  The famous scarves from Hermes are all that and more.  Each one is a collectable work of art, expertly tailored and valuable enough to be an heirloom.  These investment pieces, however, are also very expensive.  Hermes scarves are status symbols.  Something women without an extra grand to spend will save up for and treasure when they obtain their goal.  As you can see, a scarf can be something to dream about – and a dream come true.

Fortunately, not all scarves are pure silk and come with a price tag that rivals your monthly mortgage payment.  Scarves can be found everywhere from Wal-Mart to the Farmers Market to boutique shops.  The industrious fashionista can even head down to the fabric store, have a rectangle cut of her favourite pattern, sew up the border and create her own unique scarf.

Here are some of the things you can do with a scarf (whether you paid $1.00 or $1000.00 for it).
•  Scarves make wonderful headbands/ponytail holders/head wraps.
•  Scarves are a soft and fashionable option to belts.
•  Tie one around your purse strap to accessorize your accessory.
•  Long, full scarves have been known to double as swimwear cover ups when tied around the waist or as an impromptu top when creatively wrapped.
•  Oh yeah…they can also be worn around your neck.

For the diva on a dime, scarves can be a seasonal lifesaver.  If animal print is in, a leopard scarf keeps you trendy.  When nautical themes are the rage on the runways, striped scarves and short scarves knotted around the neck make you look like you just left the catwalk.  Tired of basic black? A bright scarf adds a pop of color.

Consider adding a variety of scarves to spice up your wardrobe.  Scarves come in different lengths and textures, which enables you to create different looks.  A scarf can also add an aura of maturity and seriousness, which can come in handy in situations like job interviews.

Type scarves into the search bar on the Nordstrom website to see a large variety of scarves and some of the interesting ways you can wear them.

Scarves add mileage to your wardrobe and can help you look fun and flirty or serious and mature.  It’s all about how you choose to use them.  So bring your scarves out of the closet and into the spotlight.  Make this season their year to shine.

  • I LOVE the scarf trend! Chilly Jilly wraps are my new thing! They come in their own bags so I throw it in my bag and I am good to go if I come across air conditioning or cooler weather. So glad this trend is coming back and this is a great product to try!
