This has been quite a recession for fashion brands. First Vera Wang ventured into Kohls, then H&M landed Jimmy Choo, now Wal-Mart has wooed Hard Candy Cosmetics. The American cosmetics brand founded by Iranian American sisters Dineh and Pooneh Mohajer along with Benjamin Einstein in 1995 got instant name recognition after Alicia Silverstone mentioned the brand on Letterman.
Wal-Mart expects to have Hard Candy products in 3,000 stores next month, and available at international stores by spring. Will this help them compete with Target, or just confuse the bottom line bargain shopper at Wal-mart? Seems like mass production is becoming chic in this economy.
