Honey, let me tell you - wearing a bra that doesn’t fit properly hurts. Seriously, it does! Straps that are too tight can cut into your shoulders and back, causing pain and ugly indentations. A bra that’s too big, on the other hand, won’t offer the right amount of support.
What’s a girl to do?
Well, figure out the right size, for one! No matter how hot you look in the latest fall fashion, if you can’t buy a bra that fits you aren’t going to be comfortable. Luckily, a few simple measurements are all it takes to determine your size, so let’s get to it!
Size DOES Matter!
To figure out your bra size, take a tape measure and measure the diameter directly beneath your bust. Then, take the tape measure and measure around your chest, over the fullest part of your bust. Once you have these two measurements, subtract the number you got with the first measurement from the number in the second measurement. This will determine your cup size! This website has a handy chart to let you know what your cup size should be based on the difference between measurements.
If you don’t feel comfortable taking your own measurements, the lingerie section in your local department store will usually have someone who can professionally measure you for the correct bra size.
Now that you know what size you should be wearing, it’s time to buy a bra that fits (or two, or three…!) If you’re still having trouble, try switching between several different styles of bras (demi bras, padded bras, sports bras, etc.) Different styles fit differently, so it may be worth it to try on several to see which style suits you best.
