June 19 2008 at 03:27 PM

Every season brings us something new. This season is no different as we welcome new trends that offer fun styles in fashion for women.

Ethnic prints become more and more popular. Look for ethnic prints from around the world. These intricate and subdued tones look good on so many women. These are beautiful prints that you can compliment with unique jewelry and accessories. Ethnic prints come in many different colors, but especially in brown, orange, yellow and dark red. Others are more muted.

Bright colors are extremely popular now. Everything that is bright is “in” from clothing to accessories for women. Every color imaginable has a complimentary hue that goes bright. Simply think of your favorite color and “pump it up full blast!” Bright colors range across the rainbow but are not actually fluorescent colors. These colors are cheerful and lively.

Feminine florals are a great trend this season. Women look sweet and just lovely in these floral patterns. Florals come in tiny patterns to larger patterns with enormous flowers. Remember the other trend of brights—brights can be added to the florals for a great look! These patterns are old fashioned and slightly vintage in style.

Metallics are an excellent look for the summer. This is a style that is great whether for the day or the night. Metallics dress up any outfit you are wearing. Popular metallics include gold, silver and bronze – but can also include colors that have been metallicized.

What is ideal about each of these trends is that they can be adapted for so many women’s idea of personal style. Ethnic prints, bright colors, florals and metallics can easily go from trendy, conservative or modern. Each women can easily take advantage of these summer styles and have fun with them.

Looking at this summer’s trends..what are your favorites? What has been your favorite fashion trend so far for 2008? What trends have you not participated in?

  • I was born and raised in Rwanda, Africa and now live in the US. It's so nice to see so many bright colors of Africa coming into fashion. American and European cuts with African fabric looks absolutely sensational to me. Conversely, I can see these styles making it big in Africa because the cut and fabric is so different than what we are used to.
