Jackie O, Miami Vice and The Matrix all have this in common: really cool sunglasses.  Sunglasses have always been a fascination because they add mystery and drama to the face.  If the eyes are the windows to the soul, how do you figure out the person whose eyes are hidden from you?  Ah, the intrigue! Over the past couple of years sunglasses have morphed from a rectangular lens to a round one.  Large round lenses and colored plastic frames are big sellers this year.  Just ask Ray-Ban, the undisputed leader in the retail world of sunglasses.  Their Jackie Ohh II gives a respectable nod to the famous lady’s shades but they kick things up a notch by offering it in an extremely varied color palette.  Why settle for basic black when you can have red frames with white arms or even leopard print?  Then there’s the Jackie Ohh III with even larger and rounder lenses.  Ray Ban touts the III as “glamorous and chic”.  Hot on the heels of Ray Ban is Oakley with their sporty collection of functional eyewear.  Oakley products are sport and fitness orientated; they focus more on protection and practicality therefore their lenses are more rectangular and smaller; however, they are spot on trend with their colored/patterned frames. 

Both Ray Ban and Oakley offer another breakout trend of the season: the semi-rimless.  First seen on conventional glasses and only more recently on sunglasses, the semi-rimless is a great look for business wear, when oversized shades simply won’t do. 

Guess takes the oversized plastic frame and semi-rimless trend and pushes them in a new direction.  Their round lenses have a subtle geometric shape, making them more suitable for a variety of face shapes.  The arms are also thinner and more creative, with surprising details like signature logos and even cut outs.  When it comes to rimless, Guess takes it a step further and offers the Daredevil.  The Daredevil mixes oversize with aviator and has thick, black arms.  The Guess signature G is buttoned to the left and right of the lenses and a 4-G logo plaque with stones sits over the temples. Dramatic! 

You can always count on Pucci to make things interesting and their Aqua series sunglasses do not disappoint.  The aquamarine and silver frames and simply stunning and there is a surprise that only you will know when you are wearing them.  The inside of the arms are colored with Pucci’s signature wild mash-up of colors.  It is details like this that add a little zing to your day!
